Penn Hills Varsity Cheerleaders Win Statewide Community Service Award
Rotary wishes to congratulate the Penn Hills Varsity Cheerleaders on winning the PIAA Champion Team Spirit Award!
Over the last two years, our nonprofit organization has partnered with the Penn Hills cheerleaders on various community events. The success of some of these events can be directly attributed to the hard work and professionalism of the cheerleaders. Most notably, their volunteerism assisted our organization in raising $10,000 for safety improvements to the Penn Hills Volunteer Fire Department Training Center in April 2023.
Since 2022, the cheerleaders have helped Rotary at events including two spaghetti dinners, National Night Out, various bingo fundraisers, and a community carnival. Their work at these fundraisers includes setting up equipment, serving food, breaking down tables and chairs, and more. But most importantly, their presence and hard work at these events shows the community just how important the sports programs in Penn Hills are. It shows the community that the varsity cheerleading program is more than just cheerleading – it helps build character, sportsmanship, and instills a sense of pride in the community we call home.
The volunteer hours worked by the Penn Hills cheerleaders helped Rotary raise and distribute tens of thousands of dollars last year. This is a proud moment, not only for Penn Hills Rotary and the community we serve, but also for the cheerleading team, as this would not have been possible without their help.
Rotary was honored to help recommend the cheerleading team for this statewide award. Led by coach and fellow Penn Hills Rotarian Dr. Lisa Coffey - this group of girls sets the bar high for future generations of Penn Hills cheerleaders.
Congratulations!
